COVID VACCINATIONS FAQs
The increase in vaccinations for COVID has prompted good questions from our patients. We thought we would share some of the FAQs.
If I am fully vaccinated, do I have still have to wear a mask?
Yes. Although fully vaccinated people are less likely to get and spread COVID, there is still the possibility of infection. Continue to wear a mask in public, social distance, wash your hands frequently, avoid medium to large gatherings, be cautious with travel and watch out for symptoms of COVID.
Since I am fully vaccinated, do I still have to follow all of the Adams Dental office COVID protocols (answering screening test, having temp taken and using hand sanitizer upon entry, rinsing with diluted hydrogen peroxide before treatment)?
Yes. Even though you may be fully vaccinated, the CDC and ADA advise maintaining adherence to all protocols regardless of vaccination status. While the risk of passing on virus after vaccination is reduced, it has not been shown to be completely eliminated; therefore, precautions are still needed for the protection of all.
Is it possible for me to get COVID if I have had the vaccine?
There is evidence that fully vaccinated people are less likely to have asymptomatic infection and potentially less likely to transmit COVID, however, further investigation is still underway.
If I have travelled within the last 14 days AND I am vaccinated, do I still have to quarantine and delay visiting the office?
Yes. Vaccinated people could potentially still get COVID and spread it to others. The CDC states “some prevention measures will continue to be necessary regardless of vaccinated status”.
Please remember that we are working in your mouth which produces droplets in the air which can spread COVID.
