The Buteyko Breathing Method consists of a series of breathing exercises and guidelines specifically designed to restore nasal breathing and reduce over-breathing. Bringing breathing volume to normal levels results in the reduction of common breathing related issues and brings additional health benefits such as weight loss, better sleep, and greater energy.
Breathing through the mouth all the time can lead to adverse health conditions, such as gingivitis and various sleep disturbances. It also causes less oxygen to reach the organs and brain. In young children, mouth breathing can result in abnormal facial and dental development. During the critical period of a child’s development and growth, mouth breathing can be detrimental.
We incorporate the Buteyko Breathing Method with our orthodontics for any patient we identify as a mouthbreather.
Additionally, we offer a five-week program that benefits both children and adults and includes education about proper breathing, exercises and techniques to correct poor breathing patterns. This natural breathing technique teaches you how to correctly breathe through your lung’s natural defense system—your nose.
