Local Madison dentist, Dr. Allison Adams, of Adams Dental, has been chosen as a member of the Dental Advisory Board for Buteyko Professionals International (BPI). BPI is an international community of individuals who work as Buteyko practitioners or participate in academics and/or research in Buteyko.
Named after Russian Dr. Konstantin Buteyko, the Buteyko Method consists of a series of breathing exercises and guidelines specifically designed to reduce over-breathing. Bringing breathing volume towards normal levels results in the drastic reduction of common breathing-related issues and brings many additional health benefits such as greater energy and better sleep.
BPI was formed to promote sound knowledge and best practice in the application of the Buteyko Breathing Method, to continually enhance the high standards of professionalism of its members and to advocate and promote the Buteyko Breathing Method as an effective approach to improving health and wellness.
BPI is committed to ensuring that Buteyko clients receive the highest standards of professional care while being taught the Buteyko Breathing Method by Buteyko Clinic International trained practitioners and educators.
The BPI Dental Advisory Board has five members who are recognized authorities on the Buteyko Breathing Method. The role of the Dental Advisory Board is to support the mission of BPI by advising the BPI Management Board on clinical, scientific and dental matters. This includes the review of clinical trials on the Buteyko Method and other forms of breathing re-training in dentistry and the provision of support related to the continuing professional development (CPD) of BPI members.
The members of the Dental Advisory Board are: Dr. Allison Adams DDS, FBPI; Dr. Tony O’Connor BSc (Hons), BDS, NUI, FBPI; Dr. William Hang DDS, MSD, FBPI; Dr. Beatriz Casillas DDS, MS, FBPI and Dr. James Bronson DDS, FBPI.
