In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month we are supporting and promoting Tie One On, a local fundraiser that is raising money for breast cancer research. Six years ago a group of Madison women began this group to remember their friend, Christine, who died from breast cancer, by selling pink ribbons. Since then, with the support of the community, they have raised over $20,000 that has gone directly to Susan G. Komen foundation.
Their news release this year reads:
TIE ONE ON this year is about “the fight”…the fight against cancer, the fight if you are in the trenches of treatment, the fight to make a change. The “buzz” is beginning in Madison for the “new ribbon” and shoelaces. The schools played a major part in raising money and awareness from our youngest children to our high school students. The entire football, soccer and field hockey teams in Madison TIE’d ONE ON with pink shoelaces. Random acts of kindness of lemonade stands and bake sales popped up too. It is the heart that drives us all in Madison…it is contagious… Because of our “theme”, the ribbon this year will be “pink camouflage” as well as “personalized” TIE ONE ON~2012 ribbon for cars. We also have pink “camo” shoelaces and hopefully a few more surprises!
Our donations will continue to go to Susan G. Komen, for the cure. This is where we began and so we go “passionately pink” again this year. To make a donation:
Camouflage Hair Ribbon – $3
Camouflage Shoelaces – $5
Car Ribbons – $10
T-shirts – $15
Long sleeved T-shirts – $20
Donate online (TEAM ID# 6002517). After donating, send a message with your name and address to KIDDDOOS4@aol.com and your ribbons/laces will be delivered to you.
(We are also selling ribbons and laces at the office).

In advance, thank you for your generosity and enthusiasm. As Jim Valvano so passionately said… “If you laugh, you think and you cry, that’s a full day…that’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week…you’re going to have something special”. Let’s have a “heck of a day”, let’s make this October something special!
