Madison Gum Disease Dentist

Keep your gums healthy for a lifetime

A healthy smile starts with prevention

The best way to prevent gum disease is through effective daily brushing and flossing, as well as regular professional examinations. Unfortunately, even with the most diligent at-home habits, some people still can develop some form of periodontal disease. Once this disease starts, professional intervention is necessary to prevent its progress.

At Adams Dental, we focus on education so you understand the interconnectedness of systemic and oral health. Because gingivitis and gum disease are associated with inflammatory conditions like heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes, our goal is to positively impact your gum and whole-body health by understanding your health and providing customized, integrative care.

Our team of doctors conveniently provides your gum care in our office without the need for referrals to other providers.

What is periodontal disease?

Commonly referred to as gum disease, periodontal disease is an infection of the gums that gradually destroys the bone that supports your teeth. Adults over age 35 lose more teeth to gum disease than from cavities — and 3 out of 4 people are affected at some point in their lives.

Our approach to gum health

Phase 1 Therapy with Scaling and Root Planing
Periodontal disease is accelerated by many factors, like smoking, diabetes, and clenching/grinding. However, it is the presence of harmful bacteria found in dental plaque that leads to inflammation and creates the environment for periodontal disease. Our Phase 1 Therapy is an individualized crucial first step in removing plaque and treating gum disease (gingivitis or early-stage periodontitis).
Oral DNA Testing
Research shows that it‘s not just the presence of bacteria but the amount and kind of bacteria, coupled with an individual’s genetic history, that leads to gum disease. We test saliva to determine your risk level and customize a plan for more successful outcomes.
Customized Therapies

Our approach is always customized to meet your individual medical needs. We collaborate with you to formulate your bespoke plan. Our skilled team will consider your whole-body health to deliver detail-oriented periodontal care with exceptional results.

TwinLight® Laser Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal Surgery

For advanced periodontal issues, we may recommend surgery to improve your health and smile. From soft tissue grafts to bone grafts and pocket reduction surgery, our team will recommend the right treatment to address your needs.

Pinhole® Surgical Technique
With the Pinhole® Surgical Technique, we graft tissue and recover root surfaces through tiny access holes in your gum, which heal without sutures. The Pinhole® Surgical Technique is a good example of gum regeneration/rejuvenation, where excellent results are obtained with minimal inconvenience.
